Chennai, April 1 (IANS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Monday announced plans for a multi-level parking lot in public-private-partnership (PPP) mode, elevated roadway and several other road and bridges project totalling an outlay of over Rs.1,000 crore.
Making the announcement in the assembly, Jayalalithaa said: “A parking lot with a capacity to park 2,000 vehicles and 50 buses will be built at an outlay of Rs.200 crore at Siruseri at an outlay of Rs.200 crore in PPP mode.”Siruseri is a south eastern suburb of Chennai, in Kancheepuram district, located around 30 km south of the city.
Jayalalithaa said Rs.5 crore has been allocated to prepare detailed project report for the construction of a 45-km elevated corridor in two phases between Taramani locality in Chennai and the historic town of Mamallapuram.
According to her, a four-lane road connecting city suburbs Tiruninravur and Padi will be built at an outlay of Rs.98 crore.
Jayalalithaa said 18 bridges across railway lines in 11 districts in the state will be built at an outlay of around Rs.948 crore.
