Kolkata, April 24 (IANS) Amid demonstrations by Congress activists, Saradha Group promoter Sudipta Sen and two other senior company officials were brought to the city Wednesday night.
Sen, Group Executive director Debjani Mukherjee and in-charge of its business in Jharkhand Arvind Singh Chauhan were flown to the Netaji Subhaas Chandra Bose International Airport around 10-30 pm and whisked away to the city.
With a large number of policemen throwing a security ring, the three were taken to the Salt Lake Electronics Complex police station.
Earlier in the day, they were produced in a court in Jammu and Kashmir, which gave the West Bengal police a four-day transit remand of the three accused in the multi-crore-rupee chit fund scam.
They were taken by air to Delhi in the evening, and then put in a Kolkata-bound flight.
The three were detained Tuesday by Kashmir police in Sonamarg tourist resort in Ganderbal district after receiving information from Bengal investigators. They were later arrested after their identity was established.
A large number of Congress activists, carrying party flags, thronged the airport, and raised slogans against Sen for duping depositors.
