Road to be named after Winehouse

Her father Mitch has also been working on a statue to be put up in Camden, and her family has also confirmed there will be a docu-film about her short life. Now, the late singer could also be immortalised with a road named after her, reports thesun.co.uk.

“To think that our surname would be indelibly linked with London through the naming of a street after Winehouse is remarkable. We’re a London family through and through and it would be a tremendous honour if we do become a literal part of the fabric of this great city,” thesun.co.uk quoted Mitch as saying.

Bigwigs in north London are considering calling a new road Winehouse Street or perhaps Winehouse Way in memory of the singer, who died two years ago due to drug overdose.

Locals in the King’s Cross area, which borders Winehouse’s old Camden stomping ground, have been asked to help pick 10 street names for an area being redeveloped for housing. And Winehouse’s fans have rushed to submit the name Winehouse Street.
