Protests alright but not indecency: CPI leader

New Delhi, April 9 (IANS) People have a right to protest but there is no place for indecency, CPI leader Atul Anjan said after SFI activists heckled West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra here Tuesday.

“In a democracy, people have the right to protest, but indecency has no place in such protests,” Anjan told TV news channel NDTV.

Activists of the Students Federation of India (SFI), the students wing of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), were protesting outside Yojana Bhavan in the national capital where West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Mitra were to attend a Planning Commission meeting.

Anjan said Banerjee had to face protests as she was opposing the students.

Banerjee termed the attack as “dirty politics”.
