Properties of Koutons and Eastern medikit attached in Gurgaon

Gurgaon, April 2 (IANS) The properties of Koutons retail and Eastern Medikit here have been attached and arrest warrants issued against its directors for not depositing Employees Provident Fund (EPF) dues, officials said Tuesday.

Birbal Meena, regional provident fund commissioner (first) said Koutons owed more than Rs.2,4100,000 to nearly 1,000 workers. The company had failed to deposit the money so the EPF department had attached the property of Koutons India at plot numbers 274 and 275 in Udyog Vihar of sector 37.

Similarly, Eastern Medikit’s properties at plot number 196 in Udyog Vihar phase-I had been attached as the company failed to deposit more than Rs.1,40,00,000 of more than 1,100 workers.

Dhanwant Singh, regional provident fund commissioner (second), told IANS that arrest warrants for three directors of Koutons and one of Eastern Medikit have been issued.

Koutons, a clothing firm, has suspended production since May 2012 while Eastern Medikit was defunct from September 2012, Singh said.
