Prez, PM greets nation on Ram Navami

New Delhi, April 18 (IANS) President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday greeted the nation on the occasion of Ram Navami, the birthday of Lord Ram.

In his message, the president said: “On the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, I extend warm greetings and good wishes to all the fellow citizens.”

Ram Navami will be celebrated across India Friday.

“Let us strive to emulate Bhagwan Shri Ram’s ideals of rectitude, compassion and forbearance. May Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram’s noble example remain an eternal beacon inspiring us to tread the path of righteous conduct at all times,” the president said.

“May the celebration of this joyous festival unite our people and inspire us to build a glorious future for our nation,” the president added.

Describing the festival “as a celebration of Lord Ram`s life of righteousness and truth”, the prime minister said “we should renew our commitment to these ideals on this occasion.”

Vice President Hamid Ansari also greeted the nation on the occasion.

“I extend my greetings and best wishes to all our citizens on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navmi, which marks the birthday of Lord Rama. May the eternal message of Lord Rama guide us all on the righteous path,” he added.

“On this joyous occasion, let us resolve to dedicate ourselves towards building a peaceful, just and harmonious society,” he added.
