Now pay power bills anytime at kiosks around Himachal

Shimla: To simplify the process of payment of electricity bills for consumers, State Electricity Board (HPSEB) will install Kiosk machines in all prominent cities of Himachal Pradesh.

With the installation of Kiosk machines, consumers will be greatly facilitated – they will no longer have to stand in queues and wait for lethargic babus’(clerks) to pay off their bills.Kiosk machines for electricity bills

In the first phase of the Accelerated Power Development and Reform Program, the Board will install kiosks in cities where it has already computerized power billing and other records.

These cities include Solan, Baddi, Nahan, Paonta Sahib, Dharamsala, Una, Chamba, Sundernagar, Hamirpur, Mandi, Bilaspur, Kullu, Shimla and Dalhousie.

With the use of Kiosk machines, consumers will now be able to pay their bills around the clock, anywhere they want, before the due date.

Things to remember:

Kiosks will make bill payment easier than ever before, but consumers will have to keep certain things in mind.

  • The bill can be paid at the kiosk anytime around the clock before the due date
  • The bill can be paid in cash or by cheque
  • To pay the bill, consumer will have to know his ‘K no’. This is a ten digit account number mentioned on top of the bill.
  • Don’t wait for the last day to pay the bill, else you’ll have to wait in queue at the kiosk machine too

HPSEB electricity bill payment Kiosks are already installed in various parts of Shimla city, but their functioning hasn’t really been up to the mark.

Payment kiosks are easy to operate (like ATMs), but some people find it difficult, so kiosk operators have been stationed at all kiosk centers in Shimla.

It should be noted that consumers can pay their power bills online too.
