Mallorca beat Celta Vigo in crucial game

Madrid, April 16 (IANS) A goal in injury time by Giovani Dos Santos gave Mallorca a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo Monday and both the teams are still fighting to avoid relegation in the Spanish league.

The win carries Mallorca above Celta into 19th place in the 20-team league on 27 points, just one point from safety. Celta is last on 24 points after 31 games, reports Xinhua.

Barcelona leads the standings on 81 points, ahead of Real Madrid on 68 and third-place Atletico Madrid on 65.

Monday: Mallorca bt Celta Vigo, 1-0

Sunday: Rayo Vallecano lost to Real Sociedad 2-0; Atletico Madrid bt Granada 5-0; Barcelona bt Real Zaragoza 3-0; Real Madrid bt Athletic Bilbao 3-0.

Saturday: Real Valladolid bt Getafe 2-1; Levante lost to Deportivo La Coruna 4-0; Espanyol drew with Valencia 3-3; Malaga bt Osasuna 1-0.

Friday: Real Betis drew with Sevilla 3-3.
