HPU to hold entrance exam for B.Ed, prospectus available from April 20

Shimla: Prospectus for the B.Ed entrance exam and admissions conducted by the Himachal Pradesh University will be available beginning April 20 from the HPU counter and Post Offices in all District Headquarters in the State.

The prospectus which will cost Rs 600 at the University counter will be available for Rs10-Rs20 extra from the Post Offices.

Himachal_Pradesh_University_ShimlaThe education Department in the University has made all the arrangements for the selling of the prospectus and for conducting the entrance exam. It is the first time that the University is conducting an entrance exam for B.Ed.

20 June has been proposed as the tentative date for the written entrance exam; however, the University hasn’t yet confirmed the date. University’s Education wing is expected to take a call on the final date soon.

The written entrance exam will be held in Shimla, Bilaspur, Chamba, Dharamsala, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, Nahan, Palampur, Rampur, Solan, and Una districts. Centers for the entrance exam have been set up in colleges in district headquarters. In Shimla the exam will be conducted in the University and colleges in the city.

The entrance exam will comprise of 150 objective type questions. The exam will be of 2 hours and there will be no negative marking.

Students may note that entrance to HPU B.Ed wing or other private B.Ed colleges will be made through the written entrance test only. The allotment will be based strictly on merit, better scoring students will get admission in HPU while the others will have to satisfy with private colleges.

Fee for B.Ed in HPU is only Rs 4000, while private colleges will charge the students up to Rs 49,000 for the course.
