Los Angeles, April 9 (IANS) Hollywood actress Halle Berry has collaborated with designer Michael Kors to raise money for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).
The duo will design two special watches as a part of the organisation’s Watch Hunger Stop campaign, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
Discussing Berry’s involvement in the project, Kors said: “She brings talent, energy, generosity and, of course, star power to a cause that is extremely important to me.”
The accessories will be on sale in May. With every watch sold, 100 meals will be provided to the hungry — thanks to WFP.
The actress, who is expecting her first child with fiance Olivier Martinez, believes it’s important to stand up for world hunger, especially as a woman, in order to have a real impact on the way families live.
“Statistics show that women play a crucial role in defeating hunger. WFP is especially focused on providing assistance to women because, as mothers, teachers, and entrepreneurs, they will improve the future for their families and communities,” she said.
“It’s an effort I’m eager to be a part of because I’m certain we can make a real and substantial difference in the lives of people in need,” Berry added.
