Nogaro (France), April 2 (IANS) The BMW Sports Trophy team featuring JK Tyre-sponsored Armaan Ebrahim of India and Frenchman Julien Jousse finished 11th overall and third in the Pro-Am class in the opening round of the FIA GT 1 World Series, here Monday.
After qualifying 17th for the first of the two races, the BMW team moved up to seventh overall and second in Pro-Am before getting shunted out. The team eventually came in 11th.
The second race turned out to be a disaster as the team was docked a 30-second penalty for the incident in the previous outing and a damper failure ended their outing.
Armaan Ebrahim said: “We had a good start to the weekend, but some unfortunate incidents pushed us back. I am happy with the good performance in the wet thanks to the correct set up we had during the qualifying rounds.
“Race 1 was very good as we finished third in the Pro Am Class and 11th Overall despite getting hit from behind which cost us four places. Race 2 was a total disaster but then we have to put it behind us and look forward to the next race.”
