Agartala, April 25 (IANS) Around 1.164 kg of gold biscuits worth Rs.34 lakh were Thursday seized by Border Security Force (BSF) troopers from a Bangladeshi who tried to enter Indian territory in western Tripura, police said. The smuggler managed to escape.
“Alamgir Hussain, 33, entered Indian territory through the Sonamura border in western Tripura, but alert BSF jawans detained him on suspicion. During his body search, 10 gold biscuits were recovered but the man managed to escape back into his country,” a police spokesman told reporters here.
The BSF handed over the gold biscuits to customs officials.
