The Hague, April 12 (IANS) Dutch table tennis player Li Jie pulled out of the forthcoming World Table Tennis Championships in Paris due to pregnancy, the Dutch Table Tennis Union NTTU declared.
The 29-year-old Chinese born player is currently three months pregnant and resides with her family in China, reports Xinhua.
“My husband and I are expecting our first baby in late October,” she said. “We are very happy and I feel really good. Together with our family we take our time to enjoy our pregnancy.”
Due to her pregnancy, Li will not participate in upcoming events, such as the table tennis championships taking place from May 13 to 20 in Paris.
Li is currently 37th on the World Ranking. Last year she made it to the fourth round at the London Olympic Games and secured a quarterfinal berth for the Dutch team.
