Shimla: Delay in declaring of results of post graduate classes has become a bone of contention in Himachal Pradesh University as students organizations are agitated and are holding demonstrations.
Defying a ban on holding protests on the campus, Students Federation of India (SFI) and Akhil Bharitya Vidyarathi Parishad (ABVP) students yesterday held a protest demonstration against the university administration for non declaration of Master of Arts (MA) courses results, even though the examinations have been held many months ago.
Speaking at a high-pitched protest where SFI activists were raising slogans against the university authorities, Rahul Chauhan, president Students Council Association (SCA) said that it appeared that the university was not serious about the future of the students.
Future of many students is in jeopardy as 27 April, has been declared as the last date for receiving application for admissions into the next session but the university has failed to declared results for exams held earlier, he said.
All SCA members confronted the Controller of Examination on the issue and asked him to take appropriate action for declaration of all PG classes by 23rd of April.
Not to be left behind ABVP is also much agitated about the inordinate delays and held a separate protest on the campus. Later the ABVP activists met the Controller of Examination and put a deadline for declaration of result by 20th April.
ABVP campus president Kushal Kaundal said that the university administration was averse to the problems of the students community.
Should all the results not be announced with a week, we will intensify our protests against the authorities, said Kaundal.
