Dubai, April 26 (IANS/WAM) The British embassy in Dubai celebrated the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. The event was attended by UAE Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri and British Foreign Secretary William Hague.
In a speech, Hague praised the people-to-people relationship between Britain and the UAE, and expressed joy over the upcoming visit of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan to Britain, at the invitation of the queen.
The celebration was launched by playing of the national anthems of the two countries, speeches by Britain’s Ambassador to the UAE Dominic Jermey and Consul General in Dubai Edward Hobart.
The exclusive sponsor of the event was Aston Martin, one of the world’s most iconic automobile brands which is celebrating its centenary this year.
