Bhubaneswar, April 4 (IANS) Odisha legislators Thursday unanimously passed a motion in the assembly here seeking special category status to the state, an assembly official said.
The members cutting across party lines supported the motion that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik moved requesting the central government to declare the state as a special category state and enhance financial assistance.
“Our long pending demand has not yet been favourably considered…though the state satisfies most of the criteria except that it does not have an international boundary,” the chief minister said.
