Ghaziabad, April 17 (IANS) In the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder, a CBI investigation officer (IO) Wednesday admitted in a Ghaziabad court that he was not aware of any surgical instrument that could have been used to slit the throats of the victims.
CBI superintendent A.G.L. Kaul, during his cross-examination before Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge S. Lal, said the probe agency suspected that some surgical instrument was used in the 2008 murders but he was not aware of such an instrument being seen or found.
Kaul said during an ultraviolet light test conducted at the crime scene in Noida no evidence was found to suggest that blood stains were removed or washed.
The investigator Tuesday told the court that on the basis of the circumstances he was convinced that the dentist couple – Nupur and Rajesh Talwar – killed their daughter Aarushi, 14.
During his cross-examination by defence lawyer Manoj Sishodia Wednesday, Kaul admitted in court that he stood by the content of the closure report submitted in court earlier on the grounds that there was no evidence to prove the alleged guilt of Aarushi’s parents.
The CBI superintendent said that since there was no direct evidence against the Talwars, the probe agency was forced to submit the closure report.
He said that when the court found that the circumstantial evidence could not be ignored, the investigation agency submitted further details in support of their arguments.
The court would next hear the case Thursday, when Kaul’s cross-examination would continue.
Aarushi was found murdered at her parents’ Noida residence May 16, 2008. The body of Hemraj, the Talwars’ help, was found the next day on the terrace of the house.
