New Delhi, April 28 (IANS) The Aam Admi Party (AAP) Sunday said its protest march in the national capital stands cancelled as Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit telephoned a party representative and agreed to accept letters written to her by residents over inflated water and power bills.
“We were planning to hold a protest march from Jantar Mantar to the chief minister’s residence. But she called up one of the AAP representative today (Sunday) morning and agreed to accept 10,50,000 letters written to her by the people of Delhi highlighting the inflated bills,” AAP spokesperson Aswathi Muralidharan told IANS.
The party will be sending a few representatives to the chief minister’s residence Sunday to hand over the letters.
“We will not hold any protest march but AAP convenor Arvind Kejirwal and a few other members of the party will voice their views on the inflated water and power bills before visiting the CM’s (chief minister’s) residence,” Muralidharan added.
Earlier this month, Kejriwal fasted for 15 days to press his demand for reduction in water and electricity tariffs in the capital.
