Shimla: To be executed by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) the four lane Parwanoo – Shimla project would take 3 years to complete with work on the project likely to start in February, 2014, chief minister Virbhadra Singh stated in the Vidhan Sabha today.
Responding to a question by Rohit Thakur, congress legislator, the chief minister said that till date no amount had been sanctioned for the project, which was estimated to cost about Rs 2730 Cr.
The major infrastructure project requires transfer of about 105 hectares of forest land and about 101 hectares of private land. NHAI has already moved the case for acquiring land for the project to concerned authorities and it was in various stages of being processed, said the chief minister.
The four lane road would reduce the existing road distance by 17 Kms, would involve construction of bye passes at Kandaghat and Shimla, a flyover at Kumarhatti and would need construction of 11 major bridges and 5 rail over bridges, said Virbhadra.
