Dharamshala: With land becoming available, the main campus of Central University, Kangra would be set up at Dharamshala and if required a wing can be established at Dehra, Sudhir Sharma, urban development minister said.
Sharma said, “an inquiry had been ordered as land mafia had grabbed land around the proposed Dehra campus of the university.”
He added that the central university was allotted to Dharamshala in 2007 and it would be established here only.
“Earlier it was stated that only 60 acres of land was available at Dharamshala which was insufficient for a university campus but after a fresh survey by the present government around 200 acres of land has been identified, said Sharma.
There would be no hitch in establishing the university here now, he said adding, if required a wing can be set up at Dehra as there is a wide distance between Dehra and Dharamshala and setting up campuses in two towns was not technically feasible.
About increasing congestion at Dharamshala, the place where the Tibetan Government in Exile is based, the minister said that it was proposed to set up a satellite town near Chaitru.
