Shimla: Two earthquakes of mild intensity with their epicenter in Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti areas of Himachal Pradesh, bordering areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Tibet shook the region in the late morning hours and early afternoon.
No loss to human lives or property was reported.
While the earthquake that struck at 2.04.52 p.m. Indian Standard Time with it bearing at 32.3 degree latitude and 76.3 degree longitude was measured 4.9 on the Richter scale, the one that hit the same spot at 9.15.28 a.m. was recorded at 4.5 Richter scale.
Meteorological officials here said the tremors were felt for some seconds in several parts of the tribal regions of Lahaul-Spiti and Chamba.
The epicenter was measured to have originated at depth of about 10 Km from the surface.
