Srinagar: Acting on the complaints of drivers, Jammu and Kashmir police today filled a case of robbery and assault against the army personnel in Baramulla district of North Kashmir.
A police official said that ‘the FIR was registered on the complaint from some drivers who frequently ply on the Baramulla -Srinagar road, drivers had complained on Wednesday morning at around 3 to 4:30 A.M.
The drivers alleged that the army men unnecessarily stopped their vehicles and beat the drivers and passengers. Some drivers also alleged that army men snatched money from them.
J&K Police has registered a case of robbery under 392 section of RPC (Ranbir Panel code), robbery, 341 RPC( wrongful restraint) and 323(voluntarily causing hurt).
However Army spokesman, Col. Brijesh Pandey said that some minor incident has happened but he denied all the charges framed against his men. He also said that it was a minor incident and must not be given any importance.
It must be noted that clashes between the Army and the civilians are common in the valley.
