Dharamshala: Specially created in the wake of elections, flying squad of the Kangra Police in a vigilant hunt captured a cash amount of ten Lakh from R S Mittal of urban estate Jallandhar, Punjab at the Indora Mod near Punjab border of the state on Friday.
According to DC Kangra K R Bharti, who is also assuming the charge of District Election Officer, the motto of this transportation is being examined by police and IT Department. He said that on 15 October too, an amount of 5.35 Lakh was seized from a person named Sumit Mahajan .
He said that all the related departments are made more vigilant particularly around the border of the state. Himachal is going to Assembly poll on 4th November.
Earlier this month, pressing for much needed electoral reforms, National Election Watch (NEW) had cautioned about money power dominating the poll in Himachal, just as the NGO noted a gender bias where major political parties were not putting up enough women candidates and criminal track records of candidates was being overlooked.
Demanding strong measures to clean up the electoral system, NEW has sought a transparent funding and accounting procedure of political parties.
