Shimla: Prem Kumar Dhumal would flag off Raid De Himalaya from Shimla on 7th October, 2012. This was revealed by Shri R.S. Gupta, Director, Youth Services and Sports here today. The rally would conclude at Leh on 12th October, 2012.
Shri Gupta said that this year rally organizers would be using a dedicated helicopter to evacuate injured persons in any emergency situation. He said that 165 teams will participate in three categories of the event.
He said that in the first leg on 7th October, the rally would start from Shimla and will traverse through Matiayana-Nag Jubbar-Kotighat-Kangal-Jhanjeli-Chamola-Luhri-Jameri-Panjvi-Karki-Koti-Batore-Shush-Khanag and will halt at Manali.
In the second leg on 8th October the rally after starting from Manali will pass through Palchan-Marhi-Rohtang Pass-Gramphoo-Chattru-Chotta Darra-Batal-Chandartal-Kunzumla- Takcha-Losar with halt at Kaza.
He said that from Kaza on 9th October, the rally will be moving through Hikim-Langja-Komik-Demul-Lidang-Atargo-Lingti-Dhankar-Sichiling and back to Kaza.
In the fourth leg on 10th October the rally after starting from Kaza will move through Keylong-Sarchu and will rest in Pang in Jammu and Kashmir, he added. On 11th October, from Pang the rally will traverse through Tanglangla with halt at Leh while on 12th October in the sixth leg from Leh the rally would go to Wari La-Khalsar and back to Leh. He said that prize distribution ceremony would be held on 12th October, 2012 at Leh.
Shri Gupta assured Himalayan Motor Sport Association of all possible help and asked all the departments to extend their full cooperation to make this event successful.
