Shimla: Given the importance Congress high command holds the upcoming assembly elections in Himachal, AICC secretary Anees Ahmad said that party had made changes by picking out leaders who could lead Congress to victory.
Talking to reporters Ahmand said that Virbhadra Singh had been appointed president of the Pradesh Congress Committee as part of a general AICC reshuffle.
Tenure of Kaul Singh Thakur was over, and a change was due. Besides Himachal, the state party chief of UP was also changed by AICC and it needs to be done in Haryana also, he said.
Denying any rift in the party, he said that under the leadership of Virbhadra Singh, Anand Sharma, Vidya Stokes, Kaul Singh Thakur and others, Congress would oust BJP from the state.
Coming to the defense of Birender Chaudhary, AICC geneal secretary incharge for Himachal, Ahmad said, Which ever state Chaudhary has been made incharge of by the party, Congress has come into power. It happened in Maharashtra and so was it in Uttarkhand.
