Guwahati: A fresh incident of violence left one injured and two missing in Dhubri district of Assam today, police said.
The incident took place at Bongaldoba area under Chapar police station jurisdiction.
Police said the incident occurred when seven people were returning to one of the relief camps in Chapar area in the evening after fishing. They were fired upon by unidentified people.
A senior official said that police have launched a search operation.
“We are investigating whether the attackers were militants or the incident is fallout of personal rivalry between two groups,” the official said.
Dhubri, Kokrajhar and Chirang districts were recently hit by a communal clash between Bodos and Bengali-speaking Muslims, which left 77 dead and displaced over four lakh people.
Police said that the seven people who were shot at were affected by the recent communal clash in Dhubri and were living in a relief camp in Chapar.
