Shimla: Priests not well versed with correct performing of prayer rituals at prominent temples could undergo ‘Punascharya’, a crash course for ‘Pujaris’ by Himachal Sanskrit Academy, for carrying out devotional duties in accordance with Hindu religion.
Presiding over a meeting of the academy, chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said that the institute would be conducting crash courses to train temple priests (Pujaris).
Lauding the for conservation and propagation of Sanskrit language, he said devotional services being carried in temples for the devotees had to be in accordance with the laid down procedure under ‘Hinduism’.
The academy would be launching ‘Punascharya’ programme to train the ‘Pujaris’ that would also impart knowledge about correct pronunciation of mantras.
