Narcotics official held in Himachal for taking bribe

Mandi: An official of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) posted in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi town was caught while accepting a bribe of Rs.110,000 from an accused’s kin, an official said Wednesday.

NCB intelligence officer Arvind Sharma was arrested Tuesday night, Superintendent of Police (Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau) Varinder Sharma told reporters here.

He said Sharma was Wednesday presented in a lower court which remanded him to three days police remand.

The NCB zonal office in Chandigarh has set up a centre in Mandi to check illegal cultivation of poppy and cannabis.
NCB sources said the officer had been suspended and a departmental probe had been initiated against him.

    “Agar Baad hi khet ko khane lag jaye to phir koi kya karega”…
    Such people should be given harsh punishment so to deter others in such practices!!!
