Rohru: State level Rohru fair will start from 20th of this month at Ramleela ground and closing ceremony will be held on 22nd. Various cultural and sports events will be organized at the venue during this time. The State level Rohru fair is celebrated in the honor of local deity Devta Shikru Ji Maharaj.
The fair begins with the shobha yatra of Shikru devta from Gangtoli, a nearby village, up to centrally located devta’s temple. Hundreds of devotees join the procession.
Like all previous years, day and night cultural events will be organized at the Ramleela ground. During the day-time, students from different schools will showcase their talents. Artists from different states will entertain the audience in the evening. Sports such as Volleyball, table tennis, boxing and badminton are the other highlights of the fair.
Newly appointed SDM and Chairperson of mela organizing committee Mr. Malok Singh told Hill Post that plots to the shopkeepers from other states will be auctioned on 18th & 19th April. Further, he added that the fair will witness exhibitions organized by different departments in the Ramleela ground. These exhibitions are being organized to spread awareness among the citizens.
“To maintain the law & order and traffic situation, appropriate steps have been taken. New traffic plan will be implemented and extra police force will be there to deal with any situation”, DSP Shiv Kumar let Hill Post know.
