Shimla: A part of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today threw open the Auckland Tunnel, the first such project in the city since the British days and also the first project under the flagship program to be completed in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that the completion cost of whole project was Rs 7.30 Cr, of which Rs 5.5 Crore had been spent on the tunnel and the rest on construction of a bridge.
The tunnel would divert traffic from a congested part of the city and reduce the distance from Victory Tunnel to Sanjauli by 800 meters.
