Shimla : Lashing out at the Himachal chief minister P.K.Dhumal a section of the BJP leaders in the state on Wednesday accused him of illegal property transactions and promoting rampant corruption .
An anti-corruption front of rebel leaders led by former BJP minister and speaker Radha Raman Shastri and three other senior leaders told reporters they were fed up with the widespread corruption and had decided to leave the BJP.
“We have resigned from the party and would soon float a political outfit .Our fight against corruption will continue .†Shastri said .
Accusing the top leadership of indulging in illegal property transactions Shastri said , “The setting up of private universities has become a roaring real estate business run by the BJP leaders at the helm of affairs .â€
“Dhumal is a conspirator and has made every attempt to destabilise and destroy the democratic set up of the party,†he said .
Shastri was accompanied by other disgruntled BJP senior leaders including former Kullu MP Maheshwar Singh who was recently dropped from the party’s national executive and by Mohinder Sofat , Shayma Sharma among other rebels .
“The entire state is up for sale,” Singh said .
These rebel leaders said they had failed to convince the BJP national president Nitin Gadkari and other national leaders of the rampant corruption in the state and had decided to leave the party .
“Instead of addressing our complaints and cleaning up the party Gadkari has chosen to sleep over these serious charges and hasn’t bothered to get back two months after we complained ,†Shastri said .
