Youth Congress demands probe in Kaul Singh’s accident

Shimla: The State Youth Congress in a letter to Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has demanded a high level probe into the accident in which the Himachal Congress Chief Kaul Singh Thakur had a miraculous escape when he rolled down along with his car into a 150 feet deep gorge.

Thakur is hospitalized and nursing grievous injuries on the face, head, spine and the upper torso at IGMC,Shimla.

Spokesman for the Youth Congress from Dharamsala Sanjay Guleria in his communication has mentioned that a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction flashed headlights into the eyes of PCC Chief, who was driving the car, immediately fled from the spot despite noticing the big Scorpio car veering off the road.

“The party activists”, he said, “had initially assumed that it was a natural accident but later when analysed the circumstances, felt that it could be a conspiracy and an attack on the party chief”.

Calling it a handiwork of “could be insiders” the spokesman said, some people are not able to digest the recent by-poll victory of Congress in Nalagarh under the impending leadership of Kaul Singh Thakur.

The Chief Minister should order a top level inquiry into the incident, he demanded.

A visibly happy and jubilant PCC Chief had addressed a press conference that day and was coming back in the evening after the party’s victory in Nalagarh when he met with the accident.

He was alone driving the car on his way back to his residence.

Meanwhile Congressmen from Mandi and other parts of the State are flocking to Snowdon (IGMC) Hospital in Shimla to find out his wellbeing.

AICC President Sonia Gandhi, Commerce Minister Anand Sharma and other leaders from Delhi have also enquired about his health on telephone, said the Congress office.
