Shimla: Three judges including the Himachal Pradesh Chief Justice Kurian Joseph pledged to donate their eyes by filling up a form at a blood denotation camp organized on Christmas by Umang Foundation, an NGO.
Besides the Chief Justice, Justice Rajeev Sharma and Justice VK Sharma have filled up the form pledging to donate their eyes, said Ajai Srivastava, chairman of the foundation. In all, 111 persons pledged to donate their eyes on the occasion.
Earlier the Chief Justice inaugurated a blood donation camp held on The Ridge where 105 people donated blood. It was the 12th blood donation camp organized by the foundation in the year.
With the recent establishing of an eye bank at Indirs Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, seven persons are said to have already donated their eyes that have resulted in giving sight to 14 blind persons, said Srivastava.
On the occasion, a team of doctors from the hospital and eye bank sensitized the people about donating eyes.
