New Delhi : Holding that liberty of a person should be taken seriously, the Supreme Court Friday directed the central government to immediately release Pakistani prisoners languishing in Indian jails without justification.

I am of the view that all the prisoners whether they are Pakistanis or Indian who had inadvertently crossed each others line of control should be set free immediately if they have completed their jail terms and also whose nationality status has been confirmed by the respective governments. This good will gesture will certainly strengthen the mutual relations between the two countries.
I firmly believe that the Honorable judges of the apex Supreme Court of India will uphold the Constitution Article-21 in letter & spirit and will pass orders to release/repatriate all Pakistani prisoners immediately who are languishing in different Indian jails despite the fact that they have not only served their legal jail terms but whose nationality status has also been confirme by the government of Pakistan and communicated to the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi.
6-month additional rigorous imprisonment of my son namely, Sikandar-e-Azam Sani s/o Muhammad Khalid Butt, a Pakistani national would complete on 20th January, 2012. It was due to default in payment of fine of Rs.3000/-. Consular access was provided to him on 20th August, 2010 at the central jail, Jaipur. His nationality status has already been confirmed by the government of Pakistan & forwarded to the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi. Under Indian Judicial Process he would have been released/repatriated no sooner did he complete his legal jail term that is ending on 20.01.2012.
