Delhi: Defence ministry has rejected the land site offered by Himachal Pradesh for setting up a CSD Depot in Una district and asked the state to identify a more suitable land for the purpose.
Defence minister AK Anthony let the Lok Sabha know yesterday that land measuring approximately 188 kanals which had been offered by Himachal Pradesh government, was not found to be suitable, since some of it included khud -nallah that is prone to flooding during rainy season.
The state government had requested the ministry for setting up of a CSD depot in the state given the number of servicemen, ex-servicemen and their families living here.
The minister in a written reply also clarified that it was not possible at this stage to anticipate the time likely to be taken for setting up the depot at Una, especially as the state government was yet to identify another piece of suitable land.
Once a suitable alternate land is offered by the state government, the proposal will be considered depending upon availability of budget and manpower; the minister let Virender Kashyap MP from Shimla know in a written reply.
