Srinagar: Army foiled an infiltration attempt from across the border and pushed back a group of intruders along the Line of Control (LoC) in border district of Poonch in wee hours today.
Quoting Army sources an All India Report said that the troops noticed suspicious movement near forward posts in Krishna Ghati Sector of Tehsil Mendhar of Poonch district as a group of infiltrators was making an attempt to enter into the Indian Territory from across the border.
An alert was sounded and troops challenged the intruders who fired on two Indian forward posts Kranti-1 and Kranti 2.
They were given cover fire by Pakistan Army to facilitate their infiltration into the Indian territory.
The exchange of fire lasted for about an hour but the intruders to flee back, the army sources maintained.
No casualties or loss was reported on Indian side in the firing. It is the third ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir this month.
