Jammu : The popular pilgrimage shrine of Vaishno Devi in Jammu & Kashmir achieved a major milestone on Wednesday, so far a record 8.7 million devotees have paid obeisance at the temple this year .
Officials of the holy cave shrine said until now the highest number of devotees to visit the temple was 8.2 million in 2011 . It remains to be seen how many more pilgrims will visit the place by the end of this year .
Vaishno Devi is believed to be the manifestation of mother goddess and is one of the most popular shrines in northern India .
