Separatists’ strike affects life in Kashmir

Srinagar : Life in Kashmir Valley was Friday affected by a protest shutdown called by hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani against political detentions.

Many shops, businesses and schools were closed in the capital Srinagar while low attendance was recorded in government offices and banks.

Though public transport remained off roads here, private vehicles was plying.

Authorities made elaborate security arrangements as police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers in riot gear were seen deployed in various uptown and downtown localities of the city.

The strike call evoked mixed response in other towns of the valley.
