Congress alleges voter bribery in Himachal

Shimla : Congress activists in Himachal Pradesh Friday caught two people who they said were distributing money to voters to influence them to support the ruling BJP in the Renuka assembly bypoll.

One of them is believed to a close aide of a senior BJP minister.

Superintendent of Police Puneeta Bhardwaj told reporters that an election observer had lodged a complaint with police that some people were distributing money.

“We are inquiring into the matter,” she said. The BJP denied the charge.

Byelections in Nalagarh and Renuka (reserved) assembly constituencies will be held Nov 30.
