2G case: Swamy gets copy of case file

New Delhi : Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy Thursday visited the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) headquarters here to collect a certified copy of the 2G case file.

“(Subramanian) Swamy came to CBI headquarters and collected the file. It was around a half-hour visit,” said a CBI official.

The file, according to Swamy, was seized by the agency two years ago. “These documents, with the endorsements and signatures of (home minister and former finance minister) P. Chidambaram, prove his complicity in the instant scam,” he alleged.

Swamy got the file after a special court directed the CBI Tuesday to provide a certified copy of the file to him.

He had asked Judge O.P. Saini, who is presiding over the special CBI court, as to why the probe agency was not giving him a copy of the file if it was already in the court records.

“A week before this, the court had passed an order directing the CBI to give the certified copy of the file to me. But the CBI has still not handed over the file,” Swamy said Tuesday.
