Shimla : After complaints civic officials raided the premises of a popular restaurant on Shimla’s Mall road and seized 80 kg of sweets and desserts unfit for human consumption .
Instead of ordering proper disposal the stale food items were dumped into a nearby open garbage bin . Here the sweets lay all day on Saturday stinking and attracting flies and bothering passers by , local newspaper reports said .
The restaurant’s sweets counter attracts customers from all over Shimla particularly during the annual festival season in October .
It isn’t clear if the restaurant owner was let off with a warning or booked for selling food items unfit for consumption .
The civic team then carried out inspections at other sweet shops in the middle and lower bazars , report said .
