Lucknow : Baba Ramdev Tuesday blamed Home Minister P. Chidambaram for the death of Raj Bala, a Haryana resident who was critically injured in the police crackdown on the yoga guru’s meeting in Delhi in June and died after being hospitalised for 114 days.
“Chidambaram is guilty of cold-blooded murder of the poor woman who received lathi blows while attending my camp at the Ramlila ground in New Delhi. He deserves to be tried for homicide and awarded death sentence,” Ramdev told reporters here.
The yoga guru was speaking to media persons at the Lucknow airport during a brief stopover while returning from Unnao to New Delhi.
The 51-year-old woman, who slipped into coma after suffering a spinal injury in police action to break up the yoga guru’s Delhi meeting in June, died Monday in a hospital in the national capital.
The yoga guru was in Unnao earlier in the day as a part of his Bharat Swabhiman Yatra on which he set out from Jhansi Sep 20.
“My yatra is aimed at mobilising people to fight corruption and to build pressure on the government to retrieve India’s billions (of rupees) parked as black money by our corrupt politicians, businessmen and others,” he said.
The yatra is proposed to cover Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab.
Ramdev, earlier in the day, took a break from his yatra to go to Haryana to attend Raj Bala’s cremation in Sonipat district’s Butana village, 80 km from New Delhi.
Asked to comment on the 2G scam, Ramdev said: “Is there any need for me to comment on that when Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has already thrown enough light on who was further responsible for it.”
