Shimla:Â Himachal Pradesh Saturday allowed river rafting in the remote Lahaul and Spiti district to promote adventure sports.
The government opened Lahaul and Spiti area for river rafting water sports, an official statement said here.
Earlier, rafting was allowed in the Beas river in Kullu district and in the Sutlej river in upper Shimla.
“With the inclusion of Lahaul and Spiti district, water sports adventurers would be able to experience virgin locations,” said the statement.
Every year thousand of adventure seekers not only from India but also from abroad visit the state for rafting.
The district, however, remain cut off from the state for months due to heavy snowfall every year on the high Himalayan slopes.
