Shimla: In two separate accidents, 14 people which included 6 women and 3 children died in Sirmaur district over the last 24 hours.
District police head, Punita Bhardwaj, said that a 7 people in Bhagtan area of Renuka died in a accident that happened late on Sunday night.
â€œPolice was only informed about the accident today morning,â€ she said. The dead included 2 males, 4 women and one child, she informed.
The Maruti care vehicle had lost control and rolled down into the valley, killing the occupants, she added.
In a second accident on Monday afternoon, another 7 people which included 3 males, 2 women and 2 children died in an accident that occurred around Shila Bagh area of Rajgarh.
It was a pickup utility vehicle that after losing control on the hill road, rolled about 400 meters into the valley,â€ said Bhardwaj.
All the dead had been identified and handed over to the relatives of the families for performing the last rites, she added.
In response to a query by a lawmaker, the Himachal Vidhan Sabha, only a week ago was informed that drunken driving, human error, bad roads, weather conditions and mechanical failure were the reasons for roads accidents in the state which had taken a toll of 3479 deaths in 3 years.
