Foreign leaders greet new Tibetan PM

Dharamsala : A day after Lobsang Sangay took over as the new Prime Minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile a group of foreign dignitaries on Tuesday joined Tibetans to celebrate and facilitate him.

“The dignitaries consist of MPs from Japan,Taiwan,Mongolia,Nepal, European parliament,Italy and members of the Tibet support groups,” a spokesman of the Tibetan government-in-exile said in Dharamsala,northern India.

They vowed to continue their strong support and solidarity with Tibetans to improve the situation inside Tibet.

Yang Jianli,president of the initiatives for China-USA said, “I am honoured and humbled to lead a delegation of Chinese to attend and speak at today’s celebration of Lobsang Sangay as PM.”

“The Chinese government has no choice but to face the Tibetan issue through open dialogue with Lobsang Sangay,” Yang said.

Eva Lichtenberger vice president of the Greens EFA group said, “We assure you that Tibet and the problems of the Tibetan people will remain in the centre of the heart in the European parliament.”

Matteo Macacci Italian MP spoke about the continuous evolution and advancement of democracy across the world alluding to people’s uprising in Tunisia,Libya and Egypt.
