Woman in Theog found murdered

Shimla: Police in Theog, 40 Kms from here, were investigating a blind murder after one Pritam Chand reported finding his wife Kanta Devi (36) dead in Bhawan panchayat.

Investigating officer, Sagar Chandra said that there appeared to be no sexual assault of the victim, who was located in a jungle strangulated with the head scarf women in rural areas wear.

According to the statement of Pritam Chand, who works as a driver of a commercial vehicle, said the police officer, on returning home his son informed him that his mother who had gone to the jungle for fetching wood had not returned.

Setting out to search for her, the father son duo found the dead body of the victim at about 8.30 p.m. on Sunday.

Investigations are being carried out, said the officer, and some migrant hawkers who were spotted in the area were rounded but no leads have emerged. We expect some leads to emerge after a post-mortem that has been carried out today. The report is awaited, said Chandra.

    Murder mystery of Kanta Devi who’s dead body was found in jungle at 500 mts. from her house in village Kamah.

    Mohan Lal who is also R/O of the same village Kamah has confessed before Police to have strangulated Kanta Devi to death. Both were in illicit relation with each other for last few years.

    As pre-planned, they were to meet in the Jangle at about 500 mtrs from Kanta Devi’s house, where she would come to collect tree branches.

    Mohan Lal also arrived there around 3 PM and suddenly motive strangulated Kanti Devi to death. Motive behind the murder is being investigated by the Police.

    Mohan Lal be suspicious when he made an suicide attempt by taking poison on 26-7-11 and his statement was found contradictory with the statements of his family members.

    He had been admitted in IGMC and was relived on 29-7-11, after with he was detained by the Theog Police. Mohan Lal , after initial hesitation confessed to have strangulated Kanta Devi.

    He was produced before Hon’ble CJM Shimla and Honble Court has recommend 5 days Police remand.
