Shimla: Mini-Ratna power generation company SJVN in the first quarter has already achieved 38 percent of the years generation target of 6900 million units of power, company executives disclosed.
Spokesman Vijay Verma said that in the first quarter of 2011-12, the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri hydro plant had recorded a generation of 2650 million units.
As per an agreement signed with the union ministry of power, the plant generation target for the year has been fixed at 2900 MU.
However, even in 2010-11 the plant had achieved a Normative Annual Plant Availability Factor (NAPF) of 102%.and had generated 7140 MU of power which was 440 MU more than the design energy of the station.
SJVN is a central public sector undertaking in which Himachal Pradesh government has a 25.5 % shareholding.
Besides operating the the 1500 MW Natpha Jhakri project it in an advanced stage of executing the 412 MW Rampur project.
Having several hydropower projects in the pipeline, which include some in Nepal and Bhutan, the company has also made a foray into wind power.
