Shimla: Vigilance at Nahan arrested a senior engineer of HP State Electricity Board accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000, the trap for which was laid earlier on the complaint of an industrial house.
IG Vigilance Anurag Garg disclosed that a team led by Vimukt Ranjan, ASP vigilance red handed caught Pritam Chand, an Executive Engineer (XEN) Operations HPSEB, accepting a Rs 50,000 bribe at Nahan today.
The engineer is said to have demanded the money from an upcoming industry at Kala Amb – Rich Graviss Production Ltd for laying of a power supply line to the industrial unit.
On complaining to the bureau, a case was registered and a trap was laid.
Pritam Chand has been arrested and a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered, said Garg.
