Shimla: Three persons, two of them girls, died in two separate accidents while another seven persons were injured with some of them being seriously hurt.
One of the accidents involved a small car that was overloaded with 8 passengers and was travelling from Kadharghat to Sunni.
The car lost on one sharp turn lost control and rolled out of the road, falling about 40 meters into the valley side. Mamta (19) and Shallu (18) died on the spot and Kiran, Nek Chand, Pooja, Nitu, Tej Ram and Mohan Lal (22), who was driving the vehicle, were injured.
All the passengers in the vehicle were residents of Basantpur in Shimla district.
The driver and another passenger have sustained serious injuries and have been shifted to IGMC hospital in Shimla, said a police spokesman.
The accident is believed to have taken place because of rash and negligent driving.
In a separate accident a truck on its way from Surajpur to Kotkhai lost control and fell into the valley when it got to Chailla on the Theog-Kotkhai road section that is being widened and reconstructed by a Chinese company.
The driver Tikkem Singh died on spot and Amar Singh, who was in the truck, was injured. The accident took place in the wee hours at 2.45 a.m. on Sunday.
