Shimla: Girls outdid the boys at the 10th Class HP School Education Board examination, the results for which were declared on Monday. The girls secured 14 of the 20 merit positions in the examination.
With 96.42 percent marks, Kritika Sharma of Lokeshya Public School Arki in Solan district topped in the examination for which 125,155 students had appeared in March.
Over all there were as many as 62.19 percent students who passed the board examination, said Prabhat Sharma, secretary of the board said.
In second position were Aditya Sharma of Minerva School Ghumarwin and Prateek Thakur of SVM Public School Anni. Both the students scored 674 marks each.
Of the 125,155 students who sat for the examination, 77,838 were declared passed and another 22,551 would have to appear for an supplementary compartmental examination to clear the subjects in which they had fallen short of the qualifying marks, said the board secretary.
